Assemblyman Nick Perry - Campaign Chairman

Assemblyman Perry has been a mentor and friend to Monique for over a decade.

Monique has had the pleasure of closely working with Assemblyman Perry as he has fought in Albany for Criminal Justice Reform, Immigrant Rights, Affordable Housing, and services for our Seniors.

As your next Council Member, Monique Chandler-Waterman will continue their work together to improve the quality of lives for all the residents of the 45th Council District that both she and Assemblyman Perry would jointly represent.

Statement from Assemblyman Nick Perry:

“I am proud to endorse Monique Chandler-Waterman for the open seat in the 45th Council District. Monique is a hard-working and a bold leader who will stand up and fight for the families of the 45th District in City Hall. Unlike a few of the many candidates in this race, Monique did not need to pack her bags and move into the district to qualify to run. She has been a fierce and fearless advocate for our community for many years, always on the ground and in the fight, with a proven track record of improving the quality of lives of the families who live in the council district she now seeks to represent. Monique is more than ready to take this next step, and I look forward to working with her as a colleague in government.”

NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams

Former Council Member of the 45th Council District, Jumaane Williams, has been a friend and mentor to Monique Chandler-Waterman for the past decade.

After seeing the passion for advocacy and the important organizing skills that Monique brought to the table, Jumaane Williams recruited Monique on to his team as the Director of Community Outreach.

Today, Monique’s passion is stronger than ever.

Statement from NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams:

“Monique is an accomplished community organizer and activist who has worked alongside me for the past decade fighting for justice, fairness and equity for all. She has what it takes to be an activist elected official and carry on our work in the community and City Council, which is why I’m proud to endorse her grassroots campaign.”

NY State Senator Zellnor Myrie

Statement from Senator Zellnor Myrie:

“Monique's history, and roots in this community are unquestionable. Through the non-profit organization she founded, Monique has created programs for senior centers like the Midwood and Remsen Senior Centers, and 11 public schools in the district. She has worked with community members to address violence and more. She has committed her life to the people of the 45th Council District and I am proud to give her my support as she makes her way to City Hall. She will take the voices of our residents to City Hall and make sure the district has a seat at the table. Monique is a vital voice in our community!”

NY State Senator Kevin Parker

Statement from Senator Kevin Parker:

“I am excited to give Monique Chandler-Waterman my endorsement because she is the best candidate to represent the 45th City Council District. She's walked, and worked, side by side with young people, clergy and everyone with a stake in this community including me, well before her decision to run for office. Monique has been and continues to be a leader in our community she's done the work for the past 20 years to support the community in good times, and in times of crisis. Monique knows what our residents want, and need.”
